Seeking is the largest platform in this category and its pricing sets the ceiling everyone else prices against, so it is worth knowing what it actually costs rather than what people remember it costing.
The current numbers
Premium: about $109.99 per month. Buying three months at a time brings the effective rate down to roughly $96 a month.
Diamond: about $274.99 per 30 days. This is the top tier and the one that generates most of the complaints, because the gap between it and Premium is largely visibility rather than function — profile highlighting, featured placement, longer boosts.
Attractive members: free. Verify your email, complete the profile, get a public photo approved, and you can search and message without paying. There is no membership tier sold to this side at all.
Background verification: $25, optional, one-off. This is the only thing the free side can spend money on, and it is a trust badge rather than a membership.

What you are actually buying
The honest summary of the top tier is attention. Diamond members get featured placement, their profile highlighted, and boosts that last longer. It does not make you more interesting; it makes you more visible to a population that is not paying and therefore has no shortage of options.
That is a real product and for some people it is worth $275. It is worth being clear-eyed that it is what you are buying.
Why the increase annoyed people
Three complaints turn up repeatedly, and they are not really about the money.
Verification stayed optional. Paying more for a platform where the profile pool is not required to prove its photos are its own is the complaint we hear most, and it is the one we think is most legitimate. When verification is optional, an unbadged profile is normal rather than suspicious, which removes the signal entirely.
No iOS app. Seeking has been off the App Store for years, so iPhone users are on the mobile web or a progressive web app. That is a real daily friction for a service at this price.
Bans and refunds. A steady stream of people report losing access with limited explanation, sometimes shortly after paying. We have written separately about what to do if that happens to you and about getting a refund.
Is it worth it?
If you are on the free side, the question does not arise — it costs nothing and the platform has the largest population in the category, which is the thing that actually matters in a marketplace.
If you are being asked for $110 or $275 a month, the fair test is whether the population near you justifies it, because that is genuinely what you are buying. On a large platform in a large city, quite possibly. Somewhere thinner, you are paying a big-platform price for a small-platform pool.
What people move to
The alternatives divide into three groups. Cheaper platforms with smaller populations, which is a straight trade. Mainstream apps, which cost less and have vastly more people but a different set of expectations. And smaller platforms competing on something other than size — usually verification or price.
